We don't use the term ''great'' in Great Chefs Series lightly, and neither do industry experts when they describe Phil Wood.
Despite constant demand from restaurants all over the world hoping to give their diners the chance to sample some of Wood's finest dishes, excluding his own multi-award winning kitchen at Pt. Leo Estate on the Mornington Peninsula, the renowned chef only plans to bring his culinary delights to one place in 2018: the kitchen at Josef Chromy's on August 10th 2018.
Originally from New Zealand, Wood moved to Australia at a young age and gained numerous plaudits, including the Josephine Pignolet Young Chef of the Year Award, whilst working at Tetsuya’s in Sydney.
After picking up this coveted prize, Wood enjoyed a two-year stint at the iconic French Laundry in California, before moving back to Australia and heading the kitchen at 'Australia's most beautiful dining room', Rockpool in Sydney.
Cross state borders, Wood was approached by the extravagent Point Leo Estate on the breathtaking Mornington Peninsula to ply his trade as culinary director at the beautiful winery, cellar door and restaurant.
When news of Wood's interstate move arrived, the media release said ''Victoria just snapped up one of Sydney's best chefs'', and we are certainly not going to argue.
Wood will bring innovation, creativity and huge amounts of passion to our kitchen.
As is the case with each of our Great Chefs Series events, this evening is sure to sell out and we recommend making a booking well in advance.
